This more traditional design typically has a few low cabinets. These are great for storing table linens, seasonal pieces and more.

Mini Mudroom

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the hutch can also be used as a mini mudroom in some homes. This on-trend idea is great if your kitchen is closest to the front door and you find that you could use a bit of extra space as a small mudroom.

Home Office

This final idea is a bit of a happy medium between the last two. Turning your hutch into a small home office allows you to make the most of the counter space available, while having room to store other things.

If you’re thinking about getting customizable cabinetry, you can also create a hutch that allows you to have the feel of a desk, with the upper storage of a china cabinet. This can be a great place for dishware, books or important paperwork, depending on your own preferences.
